How to do it, step by step
- Stand a long stride in front of a sturdy chair, facing away.
- Rest the top of one foot on the seat.
- Lower straight down, bending your front knee until your thigh is nearly parallel to the floor.
- Drive up through your front foot; finish all reps, then switch sides.
Common mistakes
- Placing your front foot too close to the chair.
- Pushing with the back leg instead of the front.
- Losing balance by dropping too fast.
